What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is well rooted in history having
been used by many ancient cultures up to 5000 years ago. It works on the
principle that the body and all of its organs are mirrored to associated
reflexes on the feet (and hands). These areas are worked by a form of compression massage,
which clears blockages or imbalances along the ten energy channels that run through the body
and terminate in the feet. By clearing blockages along these pathways, the body
can use its own healing mechanisms to return well-being to the person. The
treatment is soothing and deeply relaxing and should not be ticklish or painful.
You do not have to be sick to enjoy the benefits of reflexology. Regular reflexology
can help maintain your precious good health by relaxing the body, calming the
nervous system and allowing you to face life's challenges with new
feelings of self awareness and calm.
What will it do for me?
- reduce your stress and induce deep relaxation
- balance your whole system, allowing all organs and systems of the
body to function better
- help to cleanse your body of toxins and impurities
- improve your circulation
- revitalise your energy
- it can highlight a problem in your body areas or systems, which
appear as energy blockages, which the therapist can then work to free
up and rebalance, allowing your body to heal itself naturally
- stimulate the immune
system
- promote a general state of well-being
What to expect during a treatment
- Treatment time approximately 45 minutes
- Full Consultation or discussion with regards to previous treatment
- You remain fully clothed during treatment with the exception of the feet
- You are either inclined or reclined on the couch - your
choice
- Foot spa with either warming or cooling essential oils depending on the
season
- Foot relaxation massage
- Reflexology treatment.
This should be pleasant and not painful, any areas of
tenderness or different feelings should be noted to the therapist
- On completion of the
treatment you relax with a drink
- Discussions of the therapist's findings and delivery of aftercare advice
- Agreement of treatment plan
